Burmese women hold exchange prog in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 15: The Association of Burmese Women had organised an exchange programme at Champai near Indo-Myanmar border for women affected by socio-political conflicts.

The programme was yesterday organized jointly by the Women's League of Chinland and Western Region Women's Association of Burma while about 20 members of various women's organizations of both countries participated in the discussion.

Speaking on the issue, Mrs Mangcin of the Centre Chin Women's Organization (CCWO) said that women are faced by violence everyday but due to social stigma most of them are unable to express their physical and mental trauma.

She said, ''This kind of exchange is essential since we can express through a platform of friendship and understanding and we will continue the effort to organise exchange programmes frequently.''
