Orissa: Neglect of treatment, mob set fire to hospital

Berhampur, Mar 15: An irate mob today set ablaze a hospital and ransacked the NAC office here following the death of three persons including woman and her child in a road accident yesterday.

Police said the woman and her five-year-old child along with another man died on the spot while 14 were seriously injured when a mini bus carrying them had a head on collision with a tractor near Purushottampur area, about 64 km from here last night.

The bus was on its way to Polsara via Purushottampur from Berhampur when the tractor rammed into it.

The injured people have been rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.

Peeved over the neglect in treatment and a meager staff, the irate locals attacked the Purushottampur hospital and set it on fire.

They also protested against appointment of a single doctor in the hospital who was unable to treat the accident victims.
