US grocery major Supervalu opens Indian operations

Bangalore, Mar 14: US grocery major Supervalu Inc today opened its Indian office here to support its strategic initiatives in the Information Technology sector.

The company, Supervalu Services India Pvt Ltd (SSI), would be engaged in applications development, technology services, quality assurance and testing.

Initially, the company had hired 25 associates and moving forward, it would grow to 150 by the year-end, company Chief Information Officer Paul Singer said at the inauguration.

SSI would be critical in helping drive efficiencies within Supervalu's IT organisation, he said.

Supervalu is a 40 billion Dollar grocery chain in the US, with over 2,500 retail locations across the country.
