Sarpanch killed by naxals
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 14 (UNI) A sarpanch was killed by naxals during a 'Jan Adalat' (people's court) hearing in Bastar district, police said today.
Kodnar village sarpanch Mahadev and five other people were arrested five days back.
On March 12, naxals organised a 'Jan Adalat' in the forest of Usma.
During the meeting, the sarpanch was awarded the death sentence on the suspicion that he was acting as a police informer.
He was later stabbed to death. Other villagers were set free after being beaten up.
The extremists also killed Anganwadi worker Ashadevi Rana on the suspicion that she was a police informer.
