Fake MCD office unearthed
New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) With the arrest of four people from South West Delhi, police today claimed to have unearthed a fake Municipal Corporation of Delhi office and recovered fake postal stamps, worth Rs 2.8 lakhs, and MCD appointment letters used to cheat victims.
Virender Rai (36), head of the gang, Hari Narain (42), Satpal (30) and Yagdutt Sharma (36) were arrested from Palam Village in South West Delhi on March 10.
Police recovered the fake MCD appointment letters, stamps and letterheads of MCD's Food and Civil supplies department.
All the accused were produced in court where Hari Narain and Yagdutt were sent to judicial custody and Virender and Satpal were sent to 4 days police remand.
Police said Rai used to masquerade as a senior MCD officer and took money from people, promising them jobs in the corporation.
He even paid them salaries for conducting surveys in nearby colonies, before absconding with their money.
Further investigations are in progress.
