Cong legislator to undertake indefinite fast for farmers' sake
Jaipur, March 14 (UNI) Congress legislator Manglaram Godara will sit on an indefinite fast in Vidhan Sabha from tomorrow, demanding immediate relief for farmers, whose crops have been destroyed due to unseasonal rains.
Stating this at a press conference, state Congress president Dr B.D. Kalla and Opposition leader Ram Narain Choudhary, said Mr Godara, who represents Dungargarh constituency, has volunteered to undertake indefinite fast demandin compensation to farmers as soon as possible. He would sit before the well of the House and plead for immediate relief.
The Congress leaders demanded that farmers be adequately compensated without taking into consideration their status and the region they belong to. They demanded that the compensation amount should be decided keeping in mind the amounts being paid by Punjab and Haryana governments.
They also demanded the farmers should be exempted from payment of electricity bills for six months.
