VSP denies reports of major fire in company
Visakhapatnam, Mar 13: The Visakhazpatnam Steel Plant (VSP) today denied reports of a major fire at its premises yesterday and said it was a distortion of facts.
The VSP officials, in a release here today said two conveyer belts had partially burnt on account of discharge of hot sinter that was wrongly quoted as a fire mishap.
Due to the partial damage of two conveyor belts there was no production loss on account of the fire, they said adding after the production, the sinter was put in drum coolers and straight line coolers and then transported to the blast furnace through a series of conveyer belts.
It was during the transportation that the belts--25m and 90 m-- respectively were partially burnt. However, it was ensured that no further damage was done to the belts and the production was not affected.
It had been decided to replace the belts and reclaim 100 meters of belts later to optimise the time for replacement, the release added.
