Sonia to decide RS nominee for Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 13 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said Congress president Sonia Gandhi will decide the party candidate for the one Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana for which polls would be held on March 29.

''Ms Gandhi would decide the candidate and her decision would be final,'' Mr Hooda said while responding to reporters' queries in press lobby at Haryana Vidhan Sabha here.

He said in any case, the decision about the selection of the candidate would be taken by March 19, the last date to file nominations for election to Rajya Sabha.

Regarding the Bhakhra Main Line Hansi-Bhutana Multipurpose Canal, Mr Hooda said the canal would be completed by November this year. This canal, he said, would be constructed to ensure judicious distribution of canal water.

To another question, Mr Hooda said the report of the Garg Commission, which went into Gurgaon clash between police and labour, had been received by the Government and it would be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha.

The Government, he said, had also received the report of the Bhalla Commission concerning the issue of Haryana State Industrial Security Force and it was being studied.
