Seven arrested for ransacking marriage hall

Akola, Mar 13 (UNI) Seven persons have been arrested for ransacking a marriage hall and injuring five people here.

Police said some youths entered the Zulelal Dharmashala in Sindhi Khadan area of the city yesterday where the marriage ceremony between Patil-Ghatwal families was going on. Following a quarrel with the band party, the group damaged the wash basins, tube-lights and furniture in the hall.

The bride-groom Mr Patil and his family, residents of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, had come to marry the daughter of Ghatwal family, residents of Khristan Colony.

Mr Sushil Dadarao Patil (23), Nandkishor Jarwa (25), Yogendra Shinde (22), Chandan Jarwa (22), Rakesh Sumera, all residents of Ujjain and mambers of the bride-groom's party were injured in the attack.

Offences were registered under sections 143, 147, 148, 149 336, 427, 324, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the arrested persons - Siva Mishra, Ritesh Mishra, Pavan Mishra, Pankaj Mishra, Santosh Mural, Rahul Sharma and Vijay Wankhade. Some accused are reported at large.

Meanwhile, some persons tried to attack the bride groom at the railway station here when he was waiting for the train for journey back home. Timely intervention by the police saved the bridegroom.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested two of them.

The marriage party left the city by train last evening under police protection, police added.
