KPTCL official convicted in bribery case
Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) A Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited official was convicted and sentenced to one year's rigorous imprisonment each under two sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 14,000 for showing official favour.
A court in Belgaum also slapped a fine of Rs 14,000 on KPTCL Section Officer (Balekundri taluk, Belgaum district) Tamanna Maruthi Potadar, in default to undergo three months simple imprisonment each under the two sections.
Mr Potadar had been caught red handed on October 30, 2002, while accepting the bribe from the complainant, Sadananda Basalingagol, to issue power connection to the house of the latter's father.
