Islamist financing suspect arrested in Spain
MADRID, Mar 12 (Reuters) Spanish police have arrested a Canadian man suspected of helping finance Islamist military operations, the interior ministry said today.
The 61-year-old man, named as Brian David Anderson, is wanted by US authorities for fraud amounting to more than 20 million dollars and is believed to have helped finance a training camp in Afghanistan, the ministry said in a statement.
It said Anderson was thought to be linked to Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari, a New York businessman who has been indicted on terrorism charges in the United States and is also accused of funding Afghan military projects.
