Gujarat to increase land under irrigation
Gandhinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) The Gujarat Government has chalked up plans to increase the land under irrigation which is expected to boost agricultural production by Rs 500 crore, Water Resources Minister Narottam Patel told the Legislative Assembly today.
Barring South Gujarat, around 40,000 hectares of land are irrigated elsewhere in the state during the summer, the Minister said, adding that in the current year, schemes have been drawn to irrigate 150,000 hectares.
In the state there are 18 big and 122 medium irrigation projects, Mr Patel said.
