New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) The Shiv Sena has asked the BJP to give them 50 seats in the coming MCD polls.

Shiv Sena Delhi Chief Jai Bhagwan Goyal today submitted a list of 50 candidates to Delhi BJP chief Harshvardhan.

In a statement issued here, Mr Goyal said the decision to contest from 50 seats in the 272-member MCD House was to prevent a division in Hindu votes.

He said the candidates included in the list, submitted by him personally to Mr Harshvardhan, BJP incharge for Delhi Vijay Kumar Malhotra and party president Rajnath Singh, stood a strong chance of winning from the respective wards from where they were proposed to be fielded.

Claiming the party was in a strong position in the respective wards, he expressed confidence the BJP would agree to his demand for defeating Congress in the Municipal Polls.

He, however, warned that if their demand for 50 seats was not acceded to, they would be forced to field their candidates from all the wards.

In this context, Mr Goyal said in the last MCD polls, Shiv Sena was given just two seats under the seat sharing formula but still the party had agreed to the same to prevent a division in Hindu votes.

However, nothing less than 50 seats would be acceptable to the Shiv Sena this time, he added.
