NCP single largest party in Thane ZP

Thane, Mar 12 (UNI) The NCP has emerged as the single largest party in the Thane Zilla Parishad elections to which were held yesterday.

The Congress had joined hands with the Agri, Kubi Sena, and the Shramajivi Sangahtana while accusing the NCP of nepotism. The NCP had joined hands with the Vasai Vikas Aghadi, led by MLA Hitendra Thakur.

In the 68-member Thane Zilla Parishad, the Congress has won seven seats, NCP - 22, BJP - 5, Shiv Sena - 16, CPM-8 and Independents - 10.

Of the total 136 panchayat sdamiti seats in this district, the Congress has won 13, NCP 42, BJP - 9, Shiv Sena - 38, CPM - 13, MNS - 1 and Independents - 20.
