N R Narayanmurthy conferred Y B Chavan award
Mumbai, Mar 12 (UNI) Infosys founder N R Narayanmurthy was today bestowed with the Y B Chavan award for his contribution in the field of Information Technology.
The award, comprising cash prize of Rs two lakh, was given away by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar at the Y B Chavan Centre here this evening.
The award money, along with additional Rs three lakh, was donated by Mr Murthy to a Solapur-based organisation, which conducts last rites for unclaimed bodies.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Murthy expressed concern over decline in production in the agriculture sector and called for the need to work unitedly on the remedies to correct the situation.
He said about one million jobs were available in the IT sector.
