Man drowns in river
Kolhapur, Mar 12 (UNI) A bullock-cart owner, accompanied by his bullock, fell into Vedgaonga river of this district while crossing a bandhara and lost life.
Police said, the deceased, Namdev Patil from Gormbe village in Kagal tehsil, was on his way back to a field after disloading sugarcane to the Sadashivrao Mandalik Co-operative Sugar Factory at Hamidwada when the mishap took place yesterday. Near the river bandhara, both the bullocks ran wayward, as a result of which, the cart overturned and fell into the river.
Namdev and one bull were held-up in the river sediments and lost life, whereas the other bull is safe, police sources added.
