Libya says to sign nuclear power deal with US

TRIPOLI, Mar 12 (Reuters) The United States will help Libya develop a civilian nuclear power programme under an accord to be signed shortly, Libya's Jana official news agency said today.

''The General People's Commitee authorized yesterday the General People's Committee for Liaison and International Cooperation to sign the agreement related the Libyan-American cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy,'' Jana said, referring respectively to Libya's equivalent of a cabinet and a foreign ministry.
