Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) The ruling DMK, heading the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in Tamil Nadu, does not favour a coordination committee amongst its allies as it is not a workable proposition, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said today.

Asked about insistence in this regard by PMK founder S Ramadoss and CPI State Secretary D Pandian, whose parties among the others were extending outside support to the DMK Government, he expressed apprehension that issues discussed in the meeting could be leaked out.

''We've not constituted the coordination committee as what is discussed inside should not go out,'' he told reporters here.

The DMK Government, which is 22 short of simple majority in the 234-member House, is supported from outside by the Congress, the PMK and the Left parties.

On Dr Ramadoss' charge that the DMK Government was consulting the allies only for minor issues but not for important ones, Mr Karunanidhi pointed out to the all-party meeting convened to discuss the Cauvery issue.

''PMK President G K Mani attended the meeting on behalf of his party. I don't believe that Dr Ramadoss considered the Cauvery issue as a minor problem,' he said.
