2 Maoists, 6 others held in Mahto's murder case

Jamshedpur, Mar 12: Eight days after the assassination of Jamshedpur's MP Sunil Mahto at Baghuria village in East Singhbhum, police today arrested eight suspects including two Maoists from West Bengal-Jharkhand border areas.

East Singhbhum superintendent of police, Pankaj Darad, who led the team, told reporters that following an intensive investigation and screening of around 75 suspects, police nabbed two ultras- Rajan Mahto alias Santosh and Nirmal Mahto alias Vikash,- residents of Naxalite-dominated Narsinghpur village in West Bengal-Jharkhand border.

Apart from the two rebels, police also arrested six people including an ex-village Mukhia Sudhir Soren, in connection with Mahto's murder case, Mr Darad said.

He said the susepcts would be produced to a local court in Ghatshila tomorrow.

Mr Darad, however, said the motive of murder was not known so far.
