Polling peaceful in Thane
Thane, Mar 11 (UNI) Except for two polling stations, the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samitis election in Thane district passed off peacefully without any major incidents.
District Collector S S Zende told UNI, decision regarding the two polling booths will be taken only after a detailed report, which is awaited from the returning officer.
He said that there was a mechanical failure in a polling booth in Sahapur taluka, while there was a law and order problem at a booth in Palghar taluka.
The DYSP of Palghar had rushed to Sonale village in the taluka to get the information after which a decision would be taken, he said.
According to reports reaching here, the polling percentage is likely to be over 50 per cent, he said.
All the segments face triangular fights with the main players being Congress and allied, NCP and allied and the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance.
