Man shot at university music event

LONDON, Mar 11 (Reuters) Police have arrested a 22-year-old man after a shooting at a music event at Loughborough University, Leicester Police said today.

One man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said they had spoken to a number of witnesses, but the event was open to the public and many had left before being spoken to by officers.

The injured man was shot in the abdomen, the BBC reported, adding that six others were also injured in a scuffle after CS gas was sprayed.

''It is important that we ascertain the circumstances leading up to the incident,'' said Detective Chief Inspector Phil Taylor, in charge of the investigation.

''If you were at the music event and witnessed the incident or have any information about who is involved, then I'd urge you to get in contact with us.'' REUTERS SP PM1642
