Jaya condemns Lankan attack on fishermen

Chennai, Mar 11 (UNI) AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa today strongly condemned the Centre and Tamil Nadu Government for not taking any steps to prevent the killing of innocent Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.

In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa also accused both of having failing to protect fishermen's interests and said the attacks had been going on for some time now.

She expressed her condolences to the family of Christopher who was killed allegedly by the Lankan Navy personnel yesterday and announced a solatium of Rs 25,000 from the party funds.

She also sanctioned Rs 5,000 aid for Wilver and Dhasan who were injured in the attack.
