Srinagar, Mar 11: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel will soon replace the Border Security Force (BSF) in North and South Kashmir.

A month-long pre-induction training of ten battalions of the CRPF, replacing the BSF, has almost been completed and the troops are now ready to take up the job, a CRPF spokesman told sources.

He said the CRPF personnel were also given lecture on Human Rights recently.

He said ten more battalions of the CRPF will take charge of Kupwara and Baramulla districts in north Kashmir and Pulwama and Anantnag districts in south Kashmir. Six battalions would be deployed in north Kashmir while four in south Kashmir.

The process will have to be completed by this month, he said adding the CRPF had already replaced BSF in the summer capital of the Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar.

With this, a total of 59 battalions of the force would remain deployed in the valley which is one-third of the total strength of the CRPF, he said.

He said immediately after their arrival here, the CRPF personnel were given in-hour pre-induction training at different places.

They were given detailed brief about the topography of the area they are being deployed, overall security and other situation in Kashmir, the languages of the local people and the most important about climate, the spokesman said.

He said since the troops are coming from plains where the weather conditions, language of people and situation is very different as compared to Kashmir, their (troops) pre-induction training was necessary to make them mentally prepared to face any situation.
