Car bomb kills at least 4 pilgrims in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Mar 11 (Reuters) A car bomb killed at least four Shi'ite pilgrims who were travelling in a lorry in Baghdad's central Karrada district today, witnesses and police said.

A Reuters reporter saw at least five bodies. He said more bodies were being pulled from the wreckage.

A police source said four pilgrims were killed and 10 wounded in the blast. Karrada is a predominantly Shi'ite area.

The pilgrims were returning from the holy city of Kerbala, south of Baghdad, where millions gathered over the weekend for the Arbain ritual.

Suspected Sunni Arab insurgents have killed scores of Shi'ite pilgrims in recent days as part of a campaign officials say is meant to incite a sectarian civil war in Iraq.
