HP creates Rs 12.5 crore temple corpus fund

Shimla, Mar 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said his government had created a corpus of Rs 12.5 crore for providing assistance to temples that had lost their lands during the implementation of Land Reform Act in the state.

Addressing a meeting of local people and kardaars at Kullu, he said the fund would be utilised to perform pujas in all these temples and the identification of the temples was in progress.

Mr Singh said the fund would help in the preservation of rich cultural heritage of the state besides preserving the rich cultural heritage and urged the people to cooperate with the government in the endeavours.

He also laid the foundation stone of ''Dev Sadan'' to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.32 crore at Dhalpur in Kullu.

Efforts would be made to complete the Dev Sadan well before Dushehra festival, he said, and announced releasing a sum of Rs 50 lakh for its construction.
