Cong MLA demands Badal's resignation on moral ground

Jalandhar, Mar 10 (UNI) Congress MLA from Bholanth Sukhpal Singh Khaira today demanded the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal on moral grounds.

A court in Ropar yesterday framed charges against the Chief Minister, his wife Surinder Kaur, son Sukhbir Badal amd seven other accused in a dispropotionate assets case.

Talking to media persons here, Mr Khaira said,''It is a very serious matter, which can create constitutional crises as the accused is a Chief Minister and Home Minister himself. In the interest of the state, he should step down from the post of Chief Minister on moral grounds.'' He asked why the BJP was silent in Badal case, while former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad was forced to resign after charges were framed against him in fodder scam by the same party.
