Patiala, Mar 10 (UNI) Former punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh today sought the resignation of his successor Parkash Singh Badal in the wake of a special court framing charges against him, his wife and son in a disproportionate assets case.

Talking to media persons here, he said Mr Badal was unlikely to tender his resignation but people of Punjab would dislodge him in due course of time.

Capt Singh said that he would move a petition in the Supreme Court requesting that the trial of corruption cases against Mr Badal and his family members be shifted to a court outside Punjab, as a fair trial was not possible under the present SAD-BJP government.

He said his party would demand that the re-investigation of the disproportionate assets case should be done by the CBI and not by the Vigilance Bureau. The matter will be taken up after due consultation with lawyers, he added.

The Congress leader alleged that the chief minister's son, Sukhbir Singh Badal was ''ruling the state by proxy''.

Regarding the election of the 44-member Congress legislature party, Capt Singh said that the announcement would be made by the party chief Sonia Gandhi next week.
