Vir Chakra awardee dead

Shimla, Mar 9 (UNI) Vir Chakra awardee, Capt Prem Singh Guleria, died at his native Kehnwal village in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh last night, official and family sources said today.

He was 68.

Guleria was honoured with Vir Chakra for his distinguished services during the 1971 Indo-Pak war among other awards.

State Governor V S Kokje, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and several of his Cabinet colleagues have expressed grief and sorrow over his death.

The Governor, in his message, said the state was proud to have a valiant soldier among its ranks.

In his message, the Chief Minister said Guleria was a valiant soldier who served in the Dogra Regiment of the Army for over 35 years.

Lok Sabha MP from Mandi constituency Pratibha Singh has also expressed grief over his death.
