Subba issue to be examined by Speaker only after notice:Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee will examine the controversial issue relating to the citizenship of Congress MP M K Subba if a notice to this effect is given to him in writing by any member, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi today said.

Mr Dasmunsi told mediapersons here that the issue, concerning the Congress MP from Asom was raised by BJP Deputy Leader V K Malhotra at a meeting of floor leaders convened by the Speaker.

The Speaker advised the Deputy Leader to furnish all the details about the matter. He also asked the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to give the Congress viewpoint.

Mr Dasmunshi said, ''Until the matter is decided by the apex court, we cannot take any decision. Parliament cannot decide any matter that is subjudice.'' As and when a notice to this effect was given to the Speaker, he would give his ruling, the Minister said.
