Photographer throws himself from Paris tower
Paris, Mar 9: A photo-journalist committed suicide today by throwing himself off the Montparnasse skyscraper in central Paris, police said.
The photographer, 27, persuaded security officials at the tower to let him take clear shots of Paris from the terrace of the 58th floor, which is usually shut to the public and has no barriers.
A fireman accompanied him on to the balcony but could not prevent him from leaping to his death.
The last suicide on the Montparnasse tower, one of the tallest buildings in the French capital, took place in June 2006. An official said they had tightened safety measures since then but added the photographer's death could not be prevented.
