Nitish for action against Thackeray for "inflammatory" comment

Patna, Mar 9 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today urged the Maharashtra government to take action against Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena president Raj Thackeray for his alleged inflammatory statement hurting the sentiments of Biharis.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Kumar said the Maharashtra government should take stringent action against those making ''inflammatory'' statements.

He said every citizen of the country had the right to earn livelihood in any part of the nation, adding any attempt for infringement on this right would jeopardise the democratic structure of India.

'' Any attempt to divide the nation on caste, creed and language lines should be discouraged and those indulging in these activities should be punished, '' he maintained.

Mr Kumar said such statement of Mr Thackeray was his attempt to gain ''cheap'' publicity.

He appealed to the people of Bihar to maintain calm.

Mr Kumar also talked to Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilash Rao Deshmukh on the issue.
