JD(U) to field its candidate for friendly contest with BJP

Ranchi, Mar 9 (UNI) JD(U), an ally of the NDA, today said it was ready for a friendly contest with BJP and would field Jitendra Paswan as its candidate for the Palamu Parliamentary bypoll to be held on March 29.

Jharkhand president of the (JD)U Jaleshwar Mahto told reporters here that his party would contest the election on its own and Mr Paswan would file his nomination tomorrow.

Mr Mahto said despite repeated requests by party leaders the BJP did not leave the seat for JD(U). Therefore, they were ready for the friendly contest, he said.

He said all party leaders would be present during the filing of Mr Paswan's nomination.
