Cop attempts suicide

Coimbatore, Mar 9 (UNI) Frustrated at not being able to meet his family, a police constable on VIP escort duty today attempted to commit suicide at his office by pouring kerosene and setting himself alight.

But he was saved by his colleagues.

Police said Charles had been on VIP escort duty for the past several days. When he wanted permission to meet his family, the authorities refused to grant him leave.

Irritated at this, Charles attempted to set himself alight. Alert colleagues saved him.
