Hyderabad: 11 TDP members suspended from House
Hyderabad, Mar 9: Eleven more Telugu Desam Party members were suspended today for stalling the proceedings of the House over newspaper reports that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's relative had purchased land allegedly by force from the 'poor'.
Leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu and 25 other TDP members had been suspended for two days yesterday.
The trouble began as soon as the House assembled. The TDP members raised slogans against the 'undemocratic' government and pressed for an immediate discussion on the issue, after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed their adjournment motion notice on the issue.
With no signs of restoration of normalcy, the Speaker initially adjourned the House for over 15 minutes.
When the House reassembled, TDP members rushed to the well of the House and raised slogans demanding protection for lands of the poor from 'private armies'.
As repeated appeals to members to resume their seats fell on deaf ears, the Speaker named them following which Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved the motion for their suspension.
The Speaker summoned the marshalls who bodily lifted the TDP members staging a sit-in protest against the reported acquisition of 140 acres of lands from the poor, allegedly by force and at a throw-away price by the Chief Minister's brother-in-law and Kadapa Municipal Corporation Mayor Ravindra Reddy in Denduluru in West Godavari district, for a fertiliser factory at a cost of Rs 150 crore.
Earlier, the Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the TRS on alleged curbs imposed on paddy cultivation in Telangana region.
CPI on lack of remuneratiave price for farmers produce, CPI(M) on tamarind growers problems, BJP on toddy tappers problems and lone Janta Party member K Ramulu who pressed for Rajiv Palle Bata and Nagara Bata in his home Metpally constituency.
