Speeding truck crushes 6 children to death in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Mar 8 (Reuters) A speeding truck crushed six children to death and injured eight others in eastern Pakistan today, police said.

The children, aged between eight and 16, were heading to school when the truck hit their vehicle near Khangah Dogaran town in the central province of Punjab.

''All the six children died on the spot. Some of the injured children are in critical condition,'' Nazir Ahmad, a local police official said.

Hundreds of people are killed in road accidents in Pakistan every year as drivers, especially those of buses and trucks, often violate speed limit with impunity.
