Lucknow, Mar 8 (UNI) The three-day annual meeting of the RSS' Ahkil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha willtarget the economic policies of the central government.

But, the RSS maintained the forthcoming poll in Uttar Pradesh was not on the agenda. ''We do not take up political issues,'' claimed RSS' member of All India executive Ram Madhav.

He said the centre's economic policies, especially on SEZs, entry of MNCs in the retail sector, farmers' suicides and inflation would be on the agenda.

''We would discuss other issues also, including minority appeasement, terrorism and internal security,'' he informed.

The RSS slammed the Centre for its proposed Setu Samundram project to connect Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka through the Palk Straits.

''We are not opposed to the project. But, the route the centre plans to take would damage the Ram Setu constructed by Lord Ram before the battle with Ravana...we had also submitted a memorandum to the government seeking a change in route, but the government has so far not done anything,'' he lamented.

He termed the Centre's attitude as an insult to Hindus.

The meet would begin here tomorrow morning, in which 1,000 RSS workers and 300 representatives of various organisations affiliated to it will participate.

RSS today thanked the Centre for its plans to celebrate the 150 years of the 1857 revolt. ''It was a good step...as an organisation, we would also celebrate the occasion,'' he added. The type of celebrations in May 2007 would also be discussed in the meet.
