Palestinian security men clash in Gaza, 5 wounded
GAZA, Mar 8 (Reuters) Palestinian security units shot at each other at the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt today and five people were wounded, witnesses and hospital officials said.
They said members of President Mahmoud Abbas's presidential guard had exchanged fire with Palestinian policemen at the crossing.
Three of the five wounded were hit by gunfire.
The reason for the firefight was not immediately clear.
Two of Abbas's guards were among the wounded in the clash at the southern end of the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian president was in Gaza City in the north of the territory at the time.
A spokesman for European Union monitors said they had suspended operations at the Rafah terminal until order was restored.
