Haryana to approach SC on water issue
Chandigarh, Mar 8 (UNI) The Haryana government will soon approach the Supreme Court to seek an early decision on the Presidential reference on the Punjab Termination of Agreements Act, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said today.
''We will go to the apex court soon to seek an early decision on the Presidential reference on the controversial Punjab Act,'' Mr Surjewala told reporters here.
He also lashed out at Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for his stated intention to delete Section 5 of the Act which protects the existing flow of river waters to Haryana and Rajasthan.
Mr Badal, he alleged, was indulging in politics of division and destruction that could jeopardise the peace and harmony in North India.
''The Punjab Chief Minister's intended move violates all legal, constitutional, moral and political norms,'' he added.
