12000 applications received for MCD polls

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) About 12000 applications have been received by the Delhi Congress from prospective candidates for 272 wards of the MCD House, polls for which are scheduled to be held on April 5.

According to president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Rambabu Sharma, as many as 12000 persons from all over Delhi have filed their applications for candidature for the MCD polls till today, the last date for filing applications.

The list of applicants will now be sent to various district election committees formed for several MCD zones, which have been asked to send to the DPCC a list of five names for each MCD ward falling in their zones.

The DPCC election committee will then decide on the names of candidates for the 272 wards based on the recommendations of the district election committees.
