Panaji, Mar 7 (UNI) Municipal councillor Agnelo Silveira, along with more than 300 of his supporters, today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa in presence of state party president Mr Shripad Naik and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Welcoming Agnelo and his supporters, Mr Naik said all had joined without any pre-condition to get rid from the dictatorial leadership of Congress legislator and former minister Mr Atanasio Monserate, from Taleigao constituency.

Addressing media persons later, Mr Silveira criticised the Congress government in the state for soaring prices of essential commodites, controvercial Regional Plan 2011 and intra-party feuds to serve selfish interest in which middle class people and Goan youths are suffering.

Admitting that Goa achieved a lot of progress during the BJP rule under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar, he said the party would stage a come back in the coming elections.

Stating that he was ready to contest against Monserrate, he said the Taleigo constituency should be rid of the fear psychosis, musclemen and money power.
