Place Subba'a evidences before Privileges panel: BJP
New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) The BJP today urged Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to take cognizance of the emerging evidence concerning Mr M K Subba, MP from Tezpur, and his Nepal citizenship and refer the issue to Ethics or Privileges Committee of the House.
A decision to this effect was taken at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting chaired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Taking note of media digging up evidences and linking his citizenship with Nepal, the BJP said he can't be a member of the House, BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra told reporters after the meeting.
Recalling the aftermath of sting operation in the cash for query scam in which the Speaker had referred the issue to the Ethics Committee, he said the evidence emerging against Mr Subba should be referred by the Speaker to Ethics or Privileges Committee. The ongoing case before the Supreme Court or the CBI inquiry into Mr Subba's nationality would not stand in the way of Parliament taking a decision, he said.
