Mizoram supplies bamboo to HPCL

Aizawl, March 7: Mizoram Bamboo Development Corporation(MBDC) has supplied about 1,39,000 tonne bamboo to Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd(HPCL) and Cachar Paper Mill during past six months, official sources said today.

The sources here said that export of such volume of bamboos has been done through six contractors from Bairabi, Kanhmun and Saiphai bamboo collecting centres of Mizoram.

''We are gearing up to export as many bamboo as possible before they flower,'' MBDC officials said adding that export deal with Bangladesh is also finalised and shortly the corporation will start bamboo supply.
