Curb Pvt operators, NMU demands

Vijayawada, Mar 7 (UNI) The National Mazdoor Union (NMU) recognised trade union in the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) today warned of resuming its stir if the State Government failed to curb illicit operations of private buses.

Addressing a press conference here, NMU general secretary Syed Mohamood said the government departments, including transport department have failed to control the plying of private buses, resulting in APSRTC incurring losses to the tune of Rs 1000 crore per annum.

He said most of these buses which obtained permits to run as contact carriages were being operated as stage carriages.
