Cong responsible for mishandling Quattrocchi episode: Advani
New Delhi, Mar 07 (UNI) Former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said more that the government it is the Congress party which is responsible for mishandling of the Quattrocchi episode.
Speaking at a workers' rally here he said it was only at the party's instance that CBI officials were sent to London and allow de-sealing of Quattrocchi's bank accounts there.
Similarly he held the Congress responsible for India's involvement in Oil-for-Food scandal in Iraq.
Mr Advani also criticised the Congress government for letting terrorism raise its head in the country again after the BJP had taken all steps to crush it.
He also held the government responsible for escalating prices of all essential items.
After winning the municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra and Punjab and Uttarakhand Assembly polls, the party was on course to win the next general elections in 2009, he asserted.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP President Rajnath Singh said if his party won the forthcoming municipal elections in the national capital then it would surely win the general elections.
He expressed confidence that BJP would win the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections and that would pave the way for the party to win the next general elections.
Congress, which was in power in 50 of the 60 years of Independent India, had never thought about the country's progress but only engaged itself in devicing ways to continue in power, he said.
And unlike Congress, BJP did not indulge in communal politics but believed in policies based on ''justice and humanity'', he added.
