Retired CS should probe illegal constructions in KDMC: HC
Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the state government to suggest the name of a retired chief secretary to head the proposed fact-finding committee to look into the illegal constructions in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC).
The state government had suggested the name of a retired divisional commissioner to inquire into the illegal constructions from April 1, 1996 to 2004. But, a bench of justices F I Rebello and R M Sawant insisted that the cut-off date should be January 1, 1987, and that the committee should be headed by a recently-retired chief secretary.
The court has also directed the KDMC to file an affidavit indicating the wards in which the number of illegal constructions and encroachments were high.
