Shimla, Mar 6 (UNI) Ruling out unemployment allowance to educated youth of the state, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said increasing job avenues for the educated youth instead was one of the top priorities of his government.

Addressing a press conference here on the completion of four years of his government in the state, he said since providing unemployment allowance to the educated youth could be counter productive, his government was creating job avenues in various sectors.

Mr Singh said over 33,000 functional vacant posts would be filled in the government sector alone during the present year, adding that it was simply impossible for every government to provide job to every eligible youth.

''No country in the world could provide jobs to its people.

Hundred per cent people could not be employed by any government anywhere in the world,'' he said.

Efforts were on to create self-employment avenues in horticulture, agriculture, floriculture and other allied sectors, which have over a period of time emerged as attractive propositions, he said.

He said over three lakh job opportunities had been created in the state during the last four years due to the central industrial package following which several industrial units have expressed their desire to set up their units in the state.
