21 people killed in fire in southeastern Bangladesh

Dhaka, Mar 6 (UNI) At least 21 people, mostly women and children, were killed in a fire in southeastern city of Chittagong early today, police and hospital sources said.

The fire broke out in a gowdown of cut pieces of cloth and spread to a nearby slum, where people were in deep sleep, police said.

Ten children and eight women were among those killed.

The fire was brought under control after five hours of effort by firefighters and local people.
