SYDNEY, Mar 5 (Reuters) A state of emergency has been declared in the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu after two days of violence and the death of two men, Australian television reported today.
People from the islands of Ambrym and Tanna clashed on Saturday in the capital, Port Vila, after allegations of witchcraft, with a man from each island killed, ABC News said.
Police have arrested over 50 people, including chiefs form both islands.
There are no restrictions on movement and no curfews, although police said they would consider both options if necessary.
