Nitish condemns killing of JMM MP

Patna, Mar 5 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today strongly condemned the murder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) general secretary and Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto, and including four others, yesterday.

Mr Kumar said high alert has been sounded in the areas bordering Jharkhand and the security personnel had been keeping vigil at this place.

Expressing grief over the killing of the MP, Mr Kumar said the ''barbaric act of the extremism'' was aimed at disturbing social harmony and violence had no place in democracy.

''The extremists cannot achieve their goals through such acts of violence and the issues can only be solved through peaceful dialogues,'' he said.

Mr Kumar said Mr Mahto was a brilliant politician and social worker and his killing had created a void in the political field.
