NDFB yet to place demand
Guwahati, Mar 05 (UNI) The Government today informed the Asom Assembly that they were waiting for the charter of demand from the Bodo militant outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
The NDFB is having ceasefire with the Centre for the past three years but the main talk has not been progressing. as according to the government, the main charter of demand from the NDFB has not yet been received.
Replying to a question raised by Bodo MLA Karendra Basumatary, Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that talks can start once the charter of demand was received.
The term of the ceasefire was extended twice and during the period most of the discussions were confined to the modalities of the ceasefire ground rules.
Regard the ULFA, he said that talk with the militant organization could be possible if there could be direct talk and cessations of hostilities.
" ULFA has not responded to the peace overtures of the government and rather they used the opportunity to re-arm themselves" said the Chief Minister.
He also informed the House that the first month of the year saw 28 incidents of bomb explosion where 87 people,including four security personnel, had been killed .
The House was also informed that so far 459 people have lost their lives at the hands of the ULFA while 1,350 were wounded.
